Have you ever really, really wanted a new pair of shoes? Let’s see what happens when Jeremy really, really wants a pair of sneakers like the ones his classmates have!

Listen to the story and share questions about it

Follow along to Those Shoes by Maribeth Boelts. Once you have finished listening to the story, discuss what happened, explore the story’s meaning, and ask questions.
 

 

Section 2.

Creative Thinking Activity

With your family, write a list of your family’s needs and a list of your family’s wants. Was it easy or hard for your family to agree? Why? Describe the difference between needs and wants.

Section 3.

Creative Art Activity

What is a fad? Ask your family members if they can remember a fad and tell you about it. Can you think of a fad? Draw a shoe that you think should be the next best fashion fad!

Tips for Parents and Caregivers:
Ask your young artist to tell you about their drawing.
“Can you tell me about your shoe?” “What makes this shoe special?”
“How did you think of this idea?”
