Celebrate the opening of our fall exhibition, Brilliant: The Art of Beaded Footwear around the World — an exhibition spanning 400 years of history and five corners of the globe, from Indigenous North America and West Africa to South and Southeast Asia, Europe, and Western fashion.
Join us for a full afternoon of family-friendly fun, with guided tours through over 85 extraordinary objects, hands-on beading crafts for all ages, and conversations with artists who have dedicated their practice to this meticulous, centuries-old art form. Discover how a single bead — fragile, painstaking, and deeply symbolic — has adorned footwear across cultures, and explore what the future of this remarkable craft might look like.

Guided Exhibition Tours

Each tour is approximately 30 minutes.
Self-Guided Crafts
12:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Drop-in activities for families and children of all ages.
Beads Presentation
2:00 pm – 4:30 pm
Guided by local artist Marissa Magneson.
Self-guided crafts will be available throughout the day. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Activities and giveaways are available while supplies last. Schedule subject to change.
