Indigenous Fashion Week Toronto
A celebration of Indigenous fashion and culture, Indigenous Fashion Week Toronto is going entirely virtual this year! Featuring cinematic fashion films, a pop-up online marketplace, a virtual art exhibition, and a panel series, we’re also taking the opportunity to introduce you to five extraordinary Indigenous designers. Each day we’ll feature someone new and ask the same set of questions, from what gives them joy to how important community is. Our series will showcase their stories, offer a glimpse into their signature pieces and hear their personal visions for the future. “At a time when physical gatherings are difficult and the online market is saturated, carving out innovative digital spaces for Indigenous creators to gather and share our work is vital,” says IFWTO Artistic Director Sage Paul. “IFWTO has brought together a talented multidisciplinary team to reimagine how audiences experience and interact with Indigenous-made fashion, craft and textiles online. I hope the four-day experience is a cathartic experience of getting dressed up for something special and celebrating Indigenous art and culture.” Join us on our blog all this week and hear from some of the participating designers. IFWTO runs November 26 – 29.
