Image reproduction rates and licencing guidelines

 
Photographs of artifacts and Indigenous belongings from the Bata Shoe Museum collection may be available for reproduction for commercial and non-commercial use. Requests may take up to six weeks to process. Approvals or denials of requests are at the sole discretion of Bata Shoe Museum.

Free Image Access
Requests from Indigenous scholars, researchers, museums, cultural centre, and members of an Indigenous nations or community will be provided images free of charge.

Paid Image Access
Usage fees allow non-exclusive, one-time use, unless otherwise specified. Prices are per image and in Canadian currency. Taxes additional. Fees are subject to change without notice and must be paid in advance of receiving the image(s).

How to Order
To make a request please complete our online form. Once your request has been received and approved, an Image Reproduction Letter and invoice (if applicable) will be issued. This letter must be signed and returned to us, with payment (if applicable), before the image can be sent. Images are delivered electronically.

Terms

  • Permission for publication is granted for the express purpose described in your Image Reproduction Letter. This permission is non-exclusive; Bata Shoe Museum reserves the right to reproduce the image and allow others to reproduce the image.
  • Bata Shoe Museum must be credited in the manner that we specify in the Image Reproduction Letter.
  • Unless specifically waived, a copy of any publication must be sent to Bata Shoe Museum immediately upon publication.
  • Any subsequent use not included in the original request (including, for instance, subsequent editions, paperback editions, foreign language editions, electronic editions, etc.) constitutes reuse. This must be applied for in writing to Bata Shoe Museum, and may be subject to additional fees.
  • The applicant agrees to hold Bata Shoe Museum and its agents harmless against any and all claims arising or resulting from the use of the material, and shall indemnify Bata Shoe Museum and its agents for any and all costs and damages arising or resulting from any such unauthorized use.
  • Permission for publication is subject to your receipt of an Image Reproduction Letter signed by an authorized agent of Bata Shoe Museum.
  • The applicant assumes all responsibility for use made of images secured from Bata Shoe Museum.
  • All use of images must comply with the terms of the Image Reproduction Letter.
  • Photographic prints or digital files supplied by Bata Shoe Museum may not be copied, scanned, exhibited, resold, or used for any other purpose than that specified in the Image Reproduction Letter. Copies shall not be deposited in another library, archives, or repository.
  • Unless approved in advance by Bata Shoe Museum, images shall be reproduced in their entirety, and shall not be retouched or altered in any way which could affect their historical or artistic integrity.
  • Prepayment of all fees is required before images are supplied.
