Length: 5 hours total (One hour will be dedicated to lunch)
Where: Bata Shoe Museum

Join Toronto based Indigenous bead artist Katie Longboat for a beginner friendly beading workshop! Through this hands-on workshop, participants will walk away with a greater understanding of historical Indigenous bead work, tools and techniques, and will work to complete a small beaded medallion. Space is limited, register today to avoid disappointment. No experience is necessary!

Please present your ticket at the Visitor Services upon arrival.

This workshop will take place in-person in Footprints at the Bata Shoe Museum (located on the ground level). All materials and general access to the museum are included. Lunch is not included in the ticket price. Please arrive 5-15 minutes prior so that the workshop can begin on schedule. Limited spots available. Refunds only permitted with over 72 hours notice. Within 72 hours notice, all ticket sales are considered final and refunds will not be issued. Please contact shan@batashoemuseum.ca with any questions.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Katie Longboat

Katie Longboat is a Cree and Mohawk beadwork artist from Six Nations of the Grand River. Her beadwork incorporates floral designs, contemporary materials and bold colours to create unique jewelry pieces and beaded artwork. Katie is inspired to create work that is reflective of her family and background, the natural world, and draws inspiration from both Cree and Mohawk styles of beadwork. Katie currently resides in Toronto, Ontario.
