Presented in partnership between Myseum of Toronto and the Bata Shoe Museum\, this panel discussion brings together four local pros who work at the intersection of these two influential industries.  \nInspired by the Myseum’s exhibition Winners & Losers: Sports Histories of Toronto and held at the Bata Shoe Museum\, this lively discussion offers a unique perspective on empowering women in streetwear and sneaker culture.  \nAgenda\n5:30 pm – Doors Open\n6:00 – 7:00 pm – Panel\n7:00 – 8:00 pm – Galleries open to explore \nRSVP  \nABOUT THE PANELISTS\nAbby Albino\, Co-founder of Makeway\, Canada’s pioneering sneaker boutique for women.  \nAbby is a natural leader\, community connector\, collaborative spirit and a champion for the BIPOC experience. She has over 9 years of experience shaping successful marketing and communication strategies for the biggest brands in sports\, entertainment\, hospitality\, retail\, tech and food and beverage industries. \nBranden Degendorfer\, Designer\, October’s Very Own \nGraduate of Toronto Metropolitan University with a degree in fashion design. 2019 recipient of the Alfred Sung Award for Excellence in Apparel Design. Over 5 year’s experience working with Toronto based fashion labels. At OVO\, my primary focus is on our menswear core programs\, novelty knit\, woven technical and sportswear styles. \nMicaella Riche\, Director of Basketball Operations\, Lay-Up Youth Basketball. Former NCAA player. \nMicaella brings 15 years of experience in the elite basketball space. She has represented on the provincial and national stages\, has played and coached at the NCAA Division 1 level\, and played professionally overseas. She currently brings her expertise to the community level working as the Director of Basketball Operations at Lay-Up\, with a strong focus on program and coach training design and development.  Having been a part of Nike and Canada Goose campaigns\, Micaella’s relationship with fashion has come a long way since being the 6-foot sixth grader who wore her dad’s track suits.  \nAnjli Patel\, Lawyer and Trademark Agent\, specializing in fashion. Board of Directors\, Bata Shoe Museum. \nKnown locally as a “fashion lawyer”\, Anjli uses her platform to educate on the value of Canadian design\, and through buying\, wearing\, and promoting independent designers\, she leads by example. Anjli has tirelessly devoted her legal practice to helping independent designers understand their rights\, know their worth\, and navigate all areas of the law that impact their fashion business\, including contract\, employment\, and intellectual property.
